From Harvard to Houston Community College in one year or less

So my Calculus class at HCC is actually way more intense than I thought it was going to be. The competition is crazy. One of my friends from the class has a huge scholarship to UVA, another one has taken up to Calc. III at NYU and is planning to get her masters in biophysics at Rice and is already accepted but just needs to up her grade in Calculus I to meet the requirements, and another man took the class 10 years ago but is studying to be a math teacher so he is brushing up on his calculus skills. Why do all these people have to ruin the curve??! But..it's still awesome to be in an environment with smart people.

The job search seems to be finally looking up! I have a group interview at anthropologie on friday that I'm urbra-excited about. When I went in for my first interview the lady said that they get over 20 applicants and intro-interviews a day - how crazy. I was really lucky to be called back. For those up north that probably don't know what antropologie is (or those in houston that have been living under a rock) - it's a clothing store run by the same company as Urban Outfitters, except it is dressier and more for young professionals. The style is still really unique and fun and they have really awesome dresses. It's basically Urban for really rich people.

My other job lead is a librarian job. It pays so well! I went downtown to take all the tests required (I had to alphabetize things, take a typing test and an alptitude test) and passed with flying colors! So hopefully they will call me soon and offer me a job. It pays amazingly and I would love to be a librarian!

This whole hurricane thing better stop soon. I have Galveston beach plans with Chelsa, Jason, and Chelsa's friend Kelsey (I think that's her name anyways.. I forget) on Sunday.

I'm actually getting really excited about starting at the University of Houston. My physics professor graduated from Harvard and then went to MIT for graduate school. My freshman Honors Composition 2 teacher is known for connecting everything back to sex. Interesting professors are always a plus. I'm also thinking about joining a sorority. The whole greek thing is huge at UH and I think it would be a good experience.

Sorry for neglecting you lately my beloved livejournal... I've just been so busy that I'm never online. I will try to make it up to you and update more regularly...

Okay so I was a little out of line in my last comment and I'm sorry. That last part was uncalled for and my tone was harsher than it should have been. But I stand beside what I actually said, so in the event you're willing to listen to my opinion I'll rephrase what I said in a more respectful way.....

I personally don't think joining a sorority would be a good idea. I have plenty of horror stories I could tell you. The greek life isn't as glamourous as they make it look on TV, I've seen so much of what goes on behinds the scenes and it ain't pretty. If you'd like to know more about what I've seen and experienced and why I feel this way then just ask and I'll go into more detail. If not, then feel free to delete this comment along with the other one.
